Collating

I forgot how useful and efficient copiers back home are.  I think I always took them for granted, its an easy thing to do, but not anymore. Copiers can do amazing things- collate, staple, hole punch, bind, shrink, enlarge...the possibilities are endless!

Since I've begun teaching, I need to make a lot of copies for my students.  The procedure here is that you give your document to be copied to the clerk & he will make the copies for you.  This, in theory, would save a lot of time - but in reality, it adds about 30 minutes of extra work.  Why?  Because collating a document is not a common practice in Fiji. They don't let me near the copier, so I'm not even sure if it has a collate button, but it is my goal to find out.  So at least once a week, my desk looks like this:

So take some time to hug your office copier today & tell it how much you appreciate it! And think of me every time you hit the collate button.

One of the goals of Peace Corps is capacity building & it is my goal to help the people here learn to collate documents.  If I achieve this one thing, my service will be well worth it!
