You aren't married?

It is very common to be asked if you are married.......by everyone. I usually tell the truth & say no, I am not married, and yes I know I'm too old to not be married.

But sometimes I have to lie.  This weekend a guy volunteer & I went out to the local bar.  As soon as we got in, he starts checking out the girls (normal behavior for him) and I was left standing alone- for the wolves to feast on. Luckily, I have no problem saying no to them when they ask me to dance.  As we are standing there drinking, a girl asks him if we are married - he decides to tell her that I am his nanny. Great.

A little later, one of my former students came up & asked me to dance.  Now, I know if I dance once, a bunch of guys would soon follow.  But my student ALWAYS begs me to dance & I never do, so I made an exception.  The flood gates opened up.  So that's when I started telling them that the other volunteer was my husband & I made each of them ask him if they could dance with me.  It was pretty funny, but he kept saying yes, so I had to keep dancing. Finally, when the creep of all creeps asked me to dance, he helped me out & said no.  Later, we got in a cab & dropped him at his house before going to mine.  The taxi driver said to me "where is he going?  He is your husband?" HA!

Today I was chatting with our new house girl at the office, a very nice Fijian woman. She asked if I was married, I said no & she quickly asked me how old I was.  When I answered, she looked horrified - 28 and not married?  Then she asked if I had any brothers & sisters & if they were married.  I told her yes, all will be married soon.  Then she looked as if she was taking pity on me.  She told me "All you need to do is pray to God for a man, and he will send you one".

I told her I'll be putting that prayer on hold for a very very long time!
